Pat befriends The Colonel in Toronto, Canada. They form a lifelong bond over their love for fried chicken - we’ve all got mates like that.
1970 - CanadaTHE DUBLIN CONNECTION
Pat moves back to Ireland and opens his first Fried Chicken shop in Dublin using the spice blend for the chicken coating he learned from the Colonel.
1970 - IrelandRIP THE COLONEL
In 1980 he passes away, aged 90. In his later years he'd become highly critical of the recipe changes made by the investment company who bought the brand in the mid 60s.
1980 - CanadaTHE COLONEL'S LEGACY
Pat was keen to stick to the original formula - true to The Colonel’s legacy. He changed the name to Grace's Fried Chicken and kept the same 12 spice blend. Legend.
THE INTERNET BREAKS
Glen Powell, famous in the fried chicken world, releases a video explaining all of the above and breaks a very small, niche corner of the internet as people realise that a handful of outlets in Ireland are the only places to get true Fried Chicken.
2021 - CanadaSOUTHBANK CITY
We secure the exclusive rights to use Graces Original blend as the coating for our fried chicken. We still recommend visiting Ireland for the culture but there's no need to for the chicken. Come get some at SBC.
